Focusing on What Matters (Yes, Even My Neglected Blog 🙃)

Confession time: I haven’t updated this blog in… well, let’s just say, long enough that even my website probably forgot it existed. And here I am, writing a post about focusing on what matters. The irony is not lost on me!
But maybe that’s exactly the point.
Life is full. Ministry is full. Work and family and relationships are full. (And the PhD would like some attention too!) We don’t always get to do everything we’d like to. And sometimes, things we know are good - like writing, reflecting, or keeping in touch - get quietly bumped to the bottom of the pile.
The truth is, we can’t do it all. And that’s okay. The real challenge isn’t in keeping everything spinning, it’s in choosing the right things to focus on—the things that actually matter in the long run.
For me, that’s looked like leaning into the work I love most: walking alongside people, helping them reflect, reset, and thrive. My blog may have gathered a little digital dust, but my heart and my energy have been poured into conversations that change lives.
So today’s post is as much a note to myself as it is encouragement to you:
You don’t have to do everything.
You can give yourself permission to drop some balls.
And when you do, make sure the ones you’re still holding are the ones that matter most.
For me, this blog is about to matter more again. Not because I have endless time (spoiler: I don’t), but because I want to share encouragement and practical tools here that help you keep going joyfully and courageously in what matters most to you.
So here’s to shaking off the dust, laughing at ourselves along the way, and staying focused on what counts.
